While growing up in New Jersey, Joy Merkel has been very involved in music and choir. She took private voice and piano lessons through junior high School and high school, participating in regional and state choirs. Eventually Joy attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in their music education program, studying voice under Charles Walker. She has continued to remain active in music, singing in the New Jersey Chamber Singers and various church choirs. Joy is excited to continue her passion for music by teaching private lessons on piano, voice, and guitar. In her free time, Joy enjoys quality time with her husband, Praveen, and 5 year old son, Ellis.
